Sauropots - Uniquely Lightning Ridge

Sauropots are pots made using clay from the Lightning Ridge opal mines. The clay - formed over 100 million years ago - was dug and prepared by Graeme Anderson, then wrapped up and stored underground to undergo further mysterious chemical changes until finally being ready for the pottery wheel. It's the same clay the dinosaurs once walked on, and that today produces precious opal and opalised fossils.

Each sauropot is unique and comes with a card showing its name and year of making. Sauropots have been made and exhibited in limited numbers since 2011. They are highly sought after and can be found in collections all over the world.
